Worthy vs Ready
Have you ever played catch with a young child?
You tell them to put their hands together in order to grasp the ball when it reaches them. Then you back up and wave your arm a few times as if you’re going to throw. This gives them an idea of what’s about to happen. It creates a certain level of focus and gives them time to prepare. Once you feel they are ready, and likely to catch the ball, you throw it straight into their hands.
You only throw the ball once the child’s hands are together, they are focused on you, and they seem prepared to catch it.
In no way do you wait for these things because the game demands them.
In no way do you wait to throw the ball as a reward for being ready.
You are ready the entire time, just waiting for the recipient to be prepared. Waiting for someone who is fit to receive.
This too, is the idea of Messiah.
In every generation there is an exceptional person, or maybe even a few of them. Someone of incredible character, wisdom, and understanding, who also possesses phenomenal leadership skills. This person has the ability to lead us to a better world.
They are constantly prepared to interact with us.
The question is not whether we are worthy.
The question is whether we are ready.
