The Holy Lamp

It was dark and cold outside. Humanity had still not discovered fire and all the benefits it brings. They understood that both light and heat were emitted by the sun. Some people even worshiped the sun for all the benefits these properties gave them. However, they had yet to discover that the sun was just one channel of light and heat. Light and heat were not limited to the sun. In fact, they could be channeled through other means. It was into this world that Avraham was born.

Avraham noticed that there were volcanoes and hot springs, there were fireflies and jellyfish. He realized that the sun is not the only source of heat and light. “There must be a higher principle at work here”, he thought to himself. What I’m seeing are different channels of the same energies. He contemplated and analyzed, researched and probed, until he discovered that he too could channel these energies by creating fire.

Fire was a complete game changer for Avraham’s life. It lit up his way even in the darkest nights, and warmed his heart and bones no matter the season. Fire was something that he could personally use. Something that he could always have at his disposal in times of trouble. He didn’t have an endless supply of fuel, and as such his fire wasn’t constant. But it was frequent enough to completely change not only his outlook on the universe as a whole, but also his day to day life. Avraham taught the secrets of fire to his son, who taught it to his son, and so it was for generations.

Over the years Avraham’s family moved to a foreign land. Slowly they began to create fewer and fewer fires. The local people relied solely on the Sun, and were unaware that there was not only a higher source of energy, but that it could be personally channeled and used. Just when they were about to all completely forget the true source of energy, fate would have it that a descendant of Avraham’s named Moshe, had a similar realization as his ancestor. Moshe, much like Avraham, also discovered fire on his own, and he used it to light up the way for his people, and lead them out of the foreign land.

Moshe’s understanding of the principles behind light and heat surpassed even that of Avraham, and in time he was able to channel a powerful lamp with endless energy. He was also able to house the Lamp in crystal clear glass, which allowed it to shine in full glory. It was said that with the light from this Holy Lamp one could see from one end of the world to the other. This Lamp could keep people warm till the end of time, and within it was the secret to energy itself.

Moshe had carefully constructed this Holy Lamp, and before he died he passed it on to his main disciple, with very specific instructions on how to care for it. His disciple gave over the Lamp to the elders of his day, and so it was passed down through the generations. Over the years not everyone completely understood how it worked and the secrets hidden within it.

By now the glass is no longer crystal clear, and few if any are able to channel its true energy. There are those who speak of its source of power and energy, yet completely ignore the actual lamp. Others practically worship the lamp, completely overlooking the fact that it is no longer shining the way it used to. Neither group truly understand how to channel and bring the light and warmth into our lives

And it is into this world that another descendant is born who once again discovers the energy and power for himself.

It is into this world that David is born…
