The Puzzle of Life
A couple weeks ago I read Osama bin Laden’s “Letter to America” and watched several supportive reaction videos of it online. I’ve had it on my mind since then and recently an important thought came to mind.
In a way, “Life” — aka the reality which we find ourselves in, is a puzzle.
Each and every one of us collects pieces and works hard to put the puzzle together. We try to understand what is going on in the world around us.
However, manufactured puzzles that you buy in a store generally do not contain two identically shaped pieces. Therefore, if the pieces fit together, one can assume that the puzzle has been constructed correctly.
Even in the unlikely event that the puzzle does include two identically shaped pieces, and that while constructing the puzzle one wrongly exchanged these pieces, in all likelihood such a mistake would be clearly visible from the picture formed by the puzzle upon completion.
This is in stark contrast to life itself.
In life, we can fit the pieces together in multiple different ways, each time, forming a fully coherent picture at the end.
However, this does not mean that the picture at the end represents the true reality. This does not mean that we have a clear understanding of the world around us.
Just because the pieces fit, doesn’t mean you have the truth.
Just because you see something a certain way, doesn’t mean that’s the way it is.
