Internalizing Stories

I’ve heard the stories

Been told the tales

How they vanquished evil

And how good prevailed

All the myths and the legends

The tests they went through

May have happened in days past

But they happen these days too

You told me the stories

But to you that’s all they are

They’re relics of our history

Some ancient lost memoir

But to me they happen here and now

Not folk tales from the past

They speak a truth that always is

Which is why they always last

They stood up for their beliefs

I’m told to sit back down

They spoke truth to authority

But that’s rarely allowed now

In the stories they stood their ground

For what they knew to be true

You tell me how they were so brave

Clearly you don’t have a clue

That they’re not long lost stories

Not something way off far

They tell us how we’re meant to live

Teach us where to set the bar

They happen in the here and now

Not folk tales from the past

They speak a truth that always is

Which is why they always last

Some take it as dogma

Accept it all as true

But things that you blindly accept

Aren’t yours all the way through

The truth is they are more than true

They are and they will be

We can learn about them every day

And somehow still not see

That

They’re not long lost stories

Not legends from the past

They teach us what we need to know

Which is why they always last

They’re the patterns of existence

Created by the “King of Kings”

But that term is now outdated

Let’s say the “Source Code Of All Things”
